Fairway Lawns History – We’re proud of our beginnings, and we’re especially proud of our growth and expansion that has been made possible by our great Fairway team of employees! We take pride that our relationships with our customers and with our employees are rooted in trust and integrity. Although our size has changed, our core values remain the same today as they were when we humbly began back in 1979.

Way back in 1979 (was it really that long ago?) in Little Rock, Arkansas, Fairway Lawns was born. It began as a ChemLawn franchise. In October 1980, Jan and Bob Rice became the sole owners of the franchise and five years later, in 1985, they opened their first branch in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After this, in 1990, they expanded into Springdale, Arkansas. In 1993, ChemLawn was purchased by ServiceMaster, and they made the decision not to renew the franchise agreement.

We changed our name to Fairway Lawns. At the time, we kept the same customers, the same employees, the same equipment, and the same buildings. The only thing that changed was our name . . . well, that’s not quite true . . . our desire to succeed changed, too—it was bigger than ever before! With renewed enthusiasm, a strong sense of pride in spreading the Fairway Lawns name, and a commitment to superior service and customer relations, we mapped out a plan for the healthy growth and development of Fairway Lawns.

True to our plans, in 1994, we opened a branch in the Russellville area (now Conway, Arkansas) and in 1995 we proudly added termite and pest control services, (Command Pest Control) in Little Rock. In 1997, we opened a branch in Memphis, Tennessee (also serving some areas in Mississippi.)  In 2003, we opened in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2005, we added termite and pest control in Springdale, Arkansas. In January 2007, we opened our Tulsa, Oklahoma branch, and in July 2009, we opened our branch in Huntsville, Alabama. In November 2013, Fairway Lawns opened its Augusta, Georgia office! In January of 2016, we opened offices in Greenville, South Carolina and Vilonia, Arkansas. In 2019, we opened our Columbia, South Carolina branch. In 2020, we opened a branch in Charleston, South Carolina. We entered the Florida market in 2021 with the opening of our Jacksonville location.

Over the years, our growth has been steady and strong, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our employees. It’s been a fun journey down the Fairway and we’re looking forward to continuing our success. So… start thinking green and join our family. We’ll take good care of your lawn!
