Henbit is a broadleaf weed that appears about the same time as dandelions – late fall through late spring.
Henbit is a weed that most people are familiar with, since it has bright purple flowers and it’s one of the first weeds you see in the spring (usually while your warm season grass is still dormant.) It’s very fast-growing, multiplies quickly, and it’s especially aggressive in thinner lawns.
We control henbit with pre-emergent in our fall weed control application and post-emergent materials in the spring weed control applications. During the summer, we can spot spray it.
Before it flowers and seeds, it’s very easy to control, but afterwards it becomes more difficult.
