Dandelions

Dandelions are a broadleaf weed that is fairly easy to control.

They appear from fall until early summer. In shady areas that are cool and moist, you can see these at any time of the year.

Dandelions are one of the most plentiful broadleaf weeds. These are the yellow flowers you hate to see in your lawn! The flowers turn into those little white puff-balls that are really seed heads. If you’ve ever tried to pull them, you’ve seen that they have a large and long tap root, making it very difficult to get the whole thing.

Dandelions are controlled by post-emergent materials in our regular weed control applications. The more fully developed the plant is, the better our controls work. Sometimes dandelions can appear to be difficult to control, because even though our materials take care of those in the lawn, a whole new crop can come up by next week.  If dandelions pop up in the summer, we can spot spray them.
